Introduction

The nature and source of the Supreme Court’s authority is an evolving area of judicial debate. Although Marbury v. Madison will constitute the basis of discussion, other areas will also be explored. These include: Supreme Court review of congressional actions and state court judgments; Congress’ authority to limit federal court jurisdiction; and the jurisdiction and practice of the Supreme Court.
