Posted on Thursday April 25, 2024
Rankings season is upon us, and we’ve got some employment statistics for you to feast your eyes upon if you’d like to see which law schools will give graduates the best bang for their buck when it comes to putting their degrees to good use.
The American Bar Association recently released new employment data for the Class of 2023, and thanks to an analysis made by Reuters, we now know which law schools sent the highest percentage of graduates employed in full-time law jobs requiring bar passage.
The class of 2023 struck gold when it came to employment, with 85.6% of graduates landing full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar passage or for which a JD provides an advantage within 10 months of being handed their degrees. Just 5% of 2023 graduates were unemployed and looking for work.
Without further ado, these are the top 10 schools for employment:
- UVA: 97.18%
- Michigan: 95.44%
- Washington & Lee: 95.33%
- Columbia: 95.08%
- Duke: 94.96%
- Baylor: 94.93%
- Iowa: 94.01%
- Chicago: 93.90%
- Boston College: 93.42%
- Washington University, St. Louis: 93.07%

How did UVA manage to come out on top for the second year in a row? From Reuters:
Kevin Donovan, Virginia Law’s senior assistant dean for career development, said on Wednesday that legal employers recognize its graduates are “uniquely prepared, both intellectually and in the more human sides of the law.”
Congratulations to all of these top schools on helping their graduates get top jobs. Check back with us next year to see if UVA is able to hold onto the lead for the third time in a row.
