Bias Or Motive To Lie

A.

A witness may be impeached by evidence showing that the witness is biased or prejudiced for or against one of the parties to the case. In addition, a witness may be impeached by evidence that the witness has a motive to falsify testimony.

B. Extrinsic Evidence Admissible:

Witness bias is not collateral to the litigation; therefore a party may impeach a witness by introducing extrinsic evidence of bias or motive to lie.
